Inspera School-based Exams
If you are using Inspera for a school-based exam, you will need to ensure that your students, staff and exam venue have been prepared for the exam.
Prepare your students (start of the semester)
For all exams:
Post an announcement in the Learn.UQ Course site instructing students to go to the Inspera Assessment page on UQ Library website to become familiar with Inspera.
For On-Campus Invigilated Exams (using Safe Exam Browser):
Include instructions in your announcement for students to:
- Download Safe Exam Browser from the Using Safe Exam Browser for on-campus exams in Inspera page on the Libraries’ website.
- Complete the Inspera Safe Exam Browser Preparation check to ensure their device will be suitable on exam day.
- Students can contact AskUs if there are any technical difficulties with the above.
For Remote Invigilated Exams (using Inspera Exam Portal):
Include instructions in your announcement for students to:
- Download Inspera Exam Portal from the Inspera Exam Portal Installers page.
- Complete the Inspera Exam Portal Preparation check to ensure their device will be suitable on exam day.
- Students can contact AskUs if there are any technical difficulties with the above.
Organise Resources (at least 3 weeks prior to your exam)
All Exams:
Complete the online assessment schedule form to request support from AskUs student support team.
Important: Completing the above schedule is essential. This ensures students have access to trained AskUs staff to troubleshoot any technical issues students encounter on exam day.
On-Campus Exams:
- Book laptop trolleys on UQ BookIt. Refer to the guidelines on the booking form to determine the number and type of laptop trolleys required.
- Book a suitable exam venue on UQ BookIt. Ensure the exam venue:
- Is large enough to fit the students enrolled in your course with room for staff to manoeuvre between them.
- If using a lecture theatre, ensure the room is no greater than 66% capacity. Seat students in 2 out of every 3 rows so that staff can use the empty row to access to student laptops.
- Has several power points around the room to connect laptop trolleys.
- Can accommodate high-speed Wi-Fi connection.
Roster Tech Assistants for your exam. This may be staff within your school who have completed the Tech Assistant workshop and/or Senior Tech Assistant training (currently in development), or you may employ staff from the Examinations pool of trained Exam Assistants. Email examinations@uq.edu.au for a list of Tech Assistants that may be available at your campus.
Notes for rostering Tech Assistants:
- It is recommended to roster 1 Tech Assistant for every 50-60 students to ensure a timely start and running of your exam.
- One Senior Tech Assistant must be rostered per exam (included in the above ratio).
- Tech Assistants will be required for 1 hour prior to your exam start to collect and set up laptop trolleys, and to provide troubleshooting to students prior to your exam start, and for 30 minutes after the exam for pack down.
