7. Create a Column

    If your assessment item does not automatically crate a corresponding column in Grade Centre, you will need to create one for it. For example, to enter marks for hand-marked paper based assignments you will need to create a new column.

    Policy: Electronic submission of assignments is strongly encouraged to provide authoritative proof of the date and time of submission and to allow for text matching including the use of plagiarism detection software. For further information, refer to section 3.1.4 of the Assessement policy and procedure.

    Create a Column

    For the second assessment item - Tutorial questions, the Tutorial 10 column needs to be created.

    1. From the Control Panel, select Grade Centre > Full Grade Centre
    2. Click on the Create Column button on the top left of the screen
    3. Enter Tutorial 10 into the Column Name textbox
    4. Enter Tut 10 into the Grade Centre Name textbox
    5. Select Score from the Primary Display drop-down menu
    6. Enter 10 in the Points Possible textbox
    7. Under Options:
      • select the Yes radio button for the setting Include this column in Grade Centre calculations
      • select the No radio button for the setting Show this column to students
      • select the No radio button for the setting Show statistics (average and median) for this column to Students in My Grades
    8. Click on the Submit button.
