External assessors

  • Another option is to make students responsible for familiarising their supervisor with the ePortfolio system. This can be covered in student training.

Students

The eLearning team provides a train the trainer service to help course coordinators and/or tutors to deliver student training. Options include:

  • The eLearning Adviser provides the student training the first time an ePortfolio is used in a course, modelling to staff how it is delivered. Course staff deliver the student training the second year the ePortfolio is used in the course. The eLearning Adviser is also able to sit in on the first training session to give support.
  • The eLearning Adviser provides training and a plan. The eLearning Adviser will also sit in on the first training session to give support.

Training format options include:

  • Demonstration in a lecture (10 - 15 minutes).
  • Hands on workshop (30 - 45 minutes depending on the set up). Students need to bring a laptop / tablet or the course coordinator could book a computing lab. Course staff are expected to provide "floater" support, encouraging students to participate and answering non-technical questions.
  • Collaboartion Tool (1 hour). This will be a hands on session where we will have the students create their collboration spaces and invite their group members. Students need to bring a laptop / tablet or the course coordinator could book a computing lab. Course staff are expected to provide "floater" support, encouraging students to participate and answering non-technical questions.

To organise a student training session:

  • Email: elearningadvisers@uq.edu.au with the subject line ePortfolio student training. Include information on the proposed date, time, location, training format and approximate student numbers.

Note: Due to the logistics of the eLearning team providing multiple training sessions, bookings must be made as early as possible.
