Create a Turnitin assignment (Ultra)
This guide will walk you through the process of setting up a Turnitin Assignment for the submission of text-based assignments (e.g., PDF, Word, and PowerPoint files).
Warning: Old Turnitin submission links should always be deleted and replaced to ensure results transfer correctly to Gradebook.
4. Assignment Details
- Enter the Assignment title - Turnitin submission in the Title textbox.
Note: This should match the title of the assessment task in the Course Profile.
- Enter Assignment instructions in the Instructions textbox, such as "Refer to the assignment task sheet".
- Select the Start date (required) by using the Date and time picker.
Note: Students are only able to submit assignments after the Start date has passed.
- Select the Due date (required) by using the Date and time picker. Please refer to UQ Assessment policy section 3.3.
- Select the Feedback release date (required) (when marked assignments and grades are available to students in Turnitin) by using the Date and time picker.
Tip: Initially set the Feedback release date well after the due date to allow for marking time and to cater for extensions. It is recommended to use a date after the Official release of results for the Semester, then set yourself a reminder to change the date your calendar for when you think the marking will be done and marks can be released.
Note: Students are blocked from submitting assignment after the Due date/time unless Allow late submissions is checked.
- Enter the Mark the assessment is out of in the Max points textbox.
Tip: It is recommended that you mark assignments out of 100 and weigh the mark when finalising the overall mark in Gradebook.
You could also set the Max points to the same as the assignment is weighted. i.e. assignment is worth 30% and set the Max points to 30.
If you mark assignments using the UQ 1-7 grading scheme, set the Max points to 7.
- Check the Allow late submissions checkbox.
- Check the Allow resubmissions until due date checkbox.
