Upload Grades to SI-net directly (Ultra)
Why would I directly upload grades to SI-net?
Directly uploading grades to SI-net is the quickest and easiest way to finalise grades at the end of the semester. The tool allows staff to upload finalised grades from the Overall mark column in Gradebook directly to SI-net ensuring that the results are correctly matched for each student in the course.
Requirements before directly uploading grades to SI-net
- You need to be an instructor in the course. For further information on staff access to your course, refer to ther Managing staff access to your course guide.
- You must setup your Overall Mark column prior to completing the Grade upload to SI-net. For further information on setting up your Overall Mark column, refer to the Overall Mark guide.
- Apply any overides (including hurdles) to the Overall mark column. For further information on applying overrides, refer to the Overall Mark guide
- A user requires the Blackboard Grade Upload Only or Level 1 SI-net access in order to use this process. If a user does not have the relevant SI-net access, a message will be returned at the time of attempting to submit the data. Access can be requested via https://systems-training.its.uq.edu.au/si-net
Uploading grades to SI-net
Upload Grades From Grade Centre to SI-net
- Click on Books & Tools from the Details & Actions menu.

- Select Upload Grades to SI-net from the Books & Course Tools menu.

- Select your class number from the Select a class number drop-down.
Note: If your course is split into two courses, for example, an Undergraduate and Post Graduate course, select the appropriate class number from the Select class number drop-down menu then click on the Submit button. Click on the Submit button.
Warning: If the Overall Mark column has not been setup, an error message is returned when trying to access the Upload Grades to SiNet page.

- If there are any potential issues identified with your class data they will be flagged at the top in the Potential issues with grade data found. You should review these issues straight away and if instructed you may need to stop the upload process and log a support ticket to eLearning Technical Support.
Note: Some issues are caused by preview users in Gradebook and these will have no impact on the Grade upload and do not require a ticket to be logged to eLearning Technical Support.
- A final review of your course grades should be conducted. Note the following when checking your grades:
Grades that have been finalised or official grades in SI-Net cannot be overridden and will not have a drop-down option. These values also have a black border around the student's name and include grades such as W/K (withdrawn from course) or SP (Deferred examination approved). For a complete list of final grades and what they mean, see Part H - Grading system of the Assessment Procedure.

- Review any overridden grades to ensure they are correct. Overriden grades will appear in the Grade column with the full text of the applied override e.g Grade 3 Failed Hurdle or Result Withheld.
Note: Overriden grades will be converted to their correct grade during the upload process e.g. a Grade 3 Failed Hurdle will change to a 3
- If required, the grades can be changed to the following grades by selecting from the drop-down list of a grade.
- For Undergraduate and Post Graduate: INC, IP, N, P, P4, RW, THS, X
- For Post Graduate research: INC, IP, THS, N, P, X or IPR
Note: Numerical grades cannot be changed in this page and must be amended in Gradebook before proceeding to upload to SI-net.
- Once grades have been reviewed, click on the Submit button.

- Once uploaded succesfully, the process will be completed.

Grade Roster is closed / Reload grades
You may need to modify a grade/s between the time of initial Grade Upload and the Posting Date (the Friday after the last day of exams each semester). This can be done by resetting the Grade Roster to "not reviewed" in SI-net and re-uploading the grades from Gradebook following the above steps.
Refer to the SI-net, Modify Grades guide.
Note: If the Grade Roster is closed, the following message is displayed in the Upload Grades to SiNet page.
