Why would I use Total Points column?

A Total Points column can be used to calculate the total points for sequenced assessment such as weekly quizzes or reflections.

There are 2 options for creating a Total points column:

Option 1: Total Points column using categories

Best suited to creating a Total Points column when all tasks have been assigned to the same category. Ultra Assessments where marking is enabled and created Gradebook columns will have a category applied to them by default and therefore can be totalled using this option.

Option 2: Total Points column using selected columns

Best suited to creating a Total Points column when tasks are allocated to different categories or are not assigned a category. Assessments created with an LTI tool (e.g. Turnitin, Inspera or Gradescope) will be created without a category by default and therefore can be totalled using this option.
