Control the Release of Results (Original)

Overview

Students can view marks in two places:

To control the release of results to students:

  1. Hide the test column in Grade Centre.
  2. Carefully set the Show Test Results and Feedback to Students setting.

Hiding the Grade Centre column

  1. From the Control Panel, select Grade Centre > Full Grade Centre.
  2. Click on the arrow button next to the test column heading.
  3. Select Hide from Students (on/off) from the drop-down list.

  1. The column will display a circle with red line icon when it is hidden.

  1. Repeat the above step to unhide the column so students can view their marks through My Grades when the marking is complete. 

Show Test Results and Feedback to Students

  1. Hover over the test title.
  2. Click on the down arrow button.
  3. Select Edit the Test Options from the drop down list.

  1. Scroll down to Show Test Results and Feedback to Students.
  2. From the When dropdown, select the appropriate option for when test results and feedback are shown to students:
    • After Submission
    • One-time View
    • On Specific Date
    • After Due Date
    • After Availability End Date
    • After Attempts are Graded

Warning: If selecting After Attempts are Graded, results and feedback will only be available once all students in the course are graded, including those without attempts.

Tip: You can set up two rules for when feedback is available to students (i.e. After Submission and at a particular date).

  1. From the Test Feedback checkboxes, select the appropriate options to control what results and feedback are shown to students:
    • Score per question, students receive a mark for all questions if all questions are self-marking i.e. If no short answer, essay or file upload questions are included.
    • All Answers, shows all question options.
    • Correct, Shows the correct answers.
    • Submitted, Shows all of a student’s submitted answers.
    • Feedback, Shows custom instructor feedback for each question
    • Show Incorrect Questions, Shows the questions a student answers incorrectly and any feedback you have provided.

Note: To only see the score (not score per question) have all options unticked as per example for After Submission below.
