Mark a Test and View Test Results (YouTube, 3m 18s)

Overview

Short answer, Essay and File response questions need to be marked by staff. Tests with these question types that have been submitted by students are displayed in Grade Centre with an exclamation mark icon. Once these questions have been marked the total will be calculated and displayed in the Grade Centre column.

Tests can be marked:

Access tests

  1. From the Control Panel select Grade Centre > Full Grade Centre.

Mark student by student

  1. Hover over the required student’s exclamation mark icon.
  2. Click on the drop-down arrow button.
  3. Select Attempt from the drop-down list.

Mark an Essay/Short answer question

  1. Enter the mark in the points out of textbox. OR
  2. If a rubric has been attached, click on the View Rubric button to mark the question (refer Rubrics tool page).
  3. Optionally, enter feedback in the Response Feedback text editor.

Mark a File response question

  1. Click on the Given Answer link to view the submitted file.
  2. Enter the mark in the points out of textbox. OR
  3. If a rubric has been attached, click on the View Rubric button to mark the question (refer Rubrics tool page).
  4. Optionally, enter feedback in the Response Feedback text editor.

Mark anonymously

  1. Click on the Hide User Names button.

Mark the next student

  1. Click on the Save and Next button / Save and Exit button OR
  2. Click on the Jump to.. button and select the required student from the User drop down list.

Mark question by question

Note: File response questions cannot be marked using this method as the file link does not work.
  1. Scroll down the page to mark the next student.
  2. Hover over the required test’s column title.
  3. Click on the arrow button.
  4. Select Grade Questions from the drop down list.

  1. Click on the Responses link for the required question.

Mark an Essay/Short answer question

  1. Click on the Edit button.
  2. Enter the mark in the points out of textbox. OR
  3. If a rubric has been attached, click on the View Rubric button to mark the question(refer Rubrics tool page).
  4. Optionally, enter feedback in the Response Feedback text editor.

Mark anonymously

  1. Click on the Hide User Names button.

Mark the next student

  1. Scroll down the page to mark the next student.

Mark the next questions

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Click on the Back to Questions button.
