Accessibility tools; grades upload

25 Nov 2025

Blackboard course accessibility tools

From 24 November 2025, new accessibility tools will be available in all UQ Ultra courses. These tools help you identify and improve accessibility issues and provide students with automatically-generated alternative formats for their course materials. This means students can access content in the way that best supports their learning.

Students will see a range of alternative formats they can choose from, including HTML, ePub, electronic braille, audio, Beeline Reader, tagged PDF, OCRed PDF and Immersive Reader.

Finalise results in Ultra Gradebook

Staff are encouraged to set up both the total percentage and overall mark columns ahead of grade finalisation. The total percentage column calculates each student’s overall percentage mark and serves as a check to ensure the correct UQ grade is displayed in the overall mark column.

Upload grades to SI-net

Once grades have been finalised in Gradebook and are ready to be uploaded to SI-net, 2 tools are available to make the process faster and more reliable:

Preferred method:

Alternative method:

Control the release of results (Ultra)

Controlling the release of results allows staff to decide when marks are made available to students after assessments are completed. In Ultra courses, this process is called posting marks. Some tools, such as Turnitin, Blackboard tests and Inspera, include additional settings for releasing feedback alongside posted marks.

Control the release of results (Original)

During marking or moderation, you may not be ready for students to see their results. To manage the publication of results from Turnitin, Blackboard assignments, Blackboard tests and Inspera you need to adjust both the individual tool settings and the Grade Centre column settings (hide from students on/off).
