Publishing a Zoom recording to Echo360

With the Zoom/Echo360 integration app, any Zoom meetings that are recorded to the cloud will be available in your personal Echo360 media library where they can be edited, managed, and shared. For further information, refer to the Your Media Library guide (by Echo360).

Instructors can choose to publish any of these videos through Echo360 in their Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course to make them available to students. Doing so will allow students to view the video and use classroom tools, such as time-synced notes, discussion, bookmarks, and automatically generated transcripts. Instructors can also benefit from the section analytics to see how students are engaging with the Zoom recorded content.

Automatically publish Zoom cloud recordings to Echo360

Any scheduled Zoom meetings that are recorded to the cloud can now be configured to automatically publish to any Echo360 sections which you have access to (i.e. The Lecture Recordings section in your Learn.UQ course).

Enable automatic publishing in Echo360

Login to https://echo360.net.au/home.
Click on the Settings cog and select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.

Select the Zoom Settings tab from the left-hand side menu.
This will display a list of your currently scheduled Zoom meetings.
For each meeting listed, select an Echo360 Section from the dropdown list to publish the recording to (i.e. ABCD1234_STLUC_S1_2021).
Click on the Save All Changes button.

Recording your Zoom meeting

During your Zoom meeting, you will need to remember to record to the cloud (or you may have set your meeting to record automatically). Once you end the recording and your recording has become available (it will appear in your Echo360 library and you should also receive an email from Zoom), a new class will be created under your Echo360 section with your recording attached.

Note: It is recommended that the Allow participants to join anytime setting is disabled when scheduling meetings, unless you have a waiting room setup. If enabled, this setting will allow people into your meeting before you have joined, which will result in multiple recordings published into your Echo course.

Publish a Zoom recording to your Echo360 classroom

From the Course Menu, select Learning Resources.
Click on the Lecture_Recordings link to launch Echo360.

Click on the NEW CLASS button.

Note: The term "class" refers to an individual lecture recording (e.g. 8 September 2017, 4pm - 6pm).

Enter a title for the class in the Name textbox.
Select a Start Date, Start time and Duration for the class.
Click on the OK button.

The class will then appear in the list.
Click on the + button and select Add video from the drop-down list.

Locate the video and click on the Done button.

The media icon will appear green, indicating that the file has been successfully attached to the class you just created in Echo360.

Download a Zoom recording transcript

Warning: Automated machine-generated Zoom recording transcripts are not 100% accurate, therefore they may need to be edited.

Login to https://uqz.zoom.us
Click on Recordings.

Locate the desired recording.

Tip: You can use the search function to assist in finding the desired recording.

Click on the Files link.

Mouse over the Audio transcript and click on the Down Arrow button.

The transcript will download to your computer.
