Overview

This guide outlines the recommended process for converting a UQ Extend course to Learn.UQ (Blackboard).

Note: There is no automated import path between these two platforms, therefore some parts of the conversion require a manual rebuild. 

Tip: This guide uses the terms 'conversion' and 'rebuild' deliberately. Content is reconstructed in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) using the UQ Extend course as a reference source, not transferred via a file export/import.

Course Content area

  • The Course content area in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) serves the same role as the Course outline tab in UQ Extend.
  • In Learn.UQ (Blackboard), learners navigate the course and progress within the module in the Course Content area.

Course Handouts

Course Resources folder 

  • The Course Resources folder in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) serves the same purpose as the Handouts/course resources panel in UQ Extend.
  • There should be a dedicated top-level folder called 'Course Resources' on the Course Content page. Refer to the Course template guide. 
  • Download files from UQ Extend through files & uploads and upload them in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) within the Course Resources folder. Refer to the Add a file to a document content block guide.

Progress page (learner-facing) 

Gradebook / Progress Tracking 

  • Student can use progress tracking and mark items as complete within Learn.UQ (Blackboard). However, it is slightly less granular than UQ Extend’s unit-level progress indicators. 
  • The Gradebook in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) shows learners their assessment results. 

Discussion page /Course Wiki

Blackboard discussion or collaborative document in Microsoft Teams. 

Notes (inline learner note-taking tool) 

No direct equivalent 

  • UQ Extend’s in-line note-taking tool has no equivalent in Learn.UQ (Blackboard).
