Convert UQ Extend content to Learn.UQ (Blackboard) (Ultra)

This guide provides the reference information staff need to convert UQ Extend course content to Learn.UQ (Blackboard) and H5P.

Graded questions and responses

Graded refers to questions and responses where students receive a mark and a Learn.UQ Gradebook column can be created.

Basic and advanced auto-marked problem questions	Create a Blackboard Test for more advanced question types such as: Calculated formula Calculated numeric Hotspot Likert Matching You can also create the follow basic question types within a Blackboard Test: Essay Fill in multiple blanks Fill the the blank Jumbled sentence Multiple answer Multiple choice True/false	All graded questions scattered throughout the course should be included within a single Blackboard Test at the end of the relevant learning module or folder. Note: We recommend that you mark the Blackboard Test as formative, unless it is counting towards the final grade. Note: Formula-type problems with Python-evaluated answers cannot be replicated and should be reconsidered for the rebuild.
Manually-marked text input/essay questions	Create a Blackboard Test and rebuild manually using Essay questions. All essay or short answer questions should be included within a single Blackboard Test at the end of the relevant learning module or folder. For longer single responses, create a Blackboard Assignment and create a rubric for marking.	Note: We recommend that you mark the Blackboard Assignment or Test as formative, unless it is counting towards the final grade.
Open Response Assessment (ORA)	Create a Blackboard Assignment and create a rubric for marking. While the self-assessment step has no direct equivalent, you can create a Peer Review Assessment in Learn.UQ (Blackboard), however it is structurally different from UQ Extend ORA.	Tip: Copy the ORA rubric criteria manually into a Blackboard rubric. Note: We recommend that you mark the Blackboard Assignment as formative, unless it is counting towards the final grade.
Reflection tool	Recreate as a Blackboard Journal.	Note: We recommend that you mark the Blackboard Journal as formative, unless it is counting towards the final grade.

Ungraded questions and activities

Ungraded refers to questions and activities that do not create a Learn.UQ Gradebook column and may or may not produce a mark. Student results are however available in H5P Reports for all H5P content that is embedded or linked within a Learn.UQ course.

Multiple choice or multiple answer question	For individual multiple choice or multiple answer questions, recreate as a Knowledge check question within an Ultra document. Basic polling question	For a basic poll where students simply submit a response and do not need to view the poll results, recreate using a H5P multiple choice question where all answers are correct and embed H5P in an Ultra document.	Apply the following settings: Ensure you tick Correct for all answers. Select Single Mode from the Question Type dropdown. Under Behavioural Settings, untick Enable “Retry” button and untick Enable Show Solution button. Tip: For matrix polling questions, enter the scale (i.e. Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly Disagree) as the Answers.
Word cloud, Poll or Survey	For a Word Cloud, Emoji Cloud, Multiple Choice or Image Hotspot where students can see their peers' responses once they area shared by the instructor, create a H5P Multipoll question and embed H5P in an Ultra document. After the poll has been answered by students, you will need to manually lock the poll and choose to show results to students, as this tool is designed for live polling.	Once all students have submitted their responses, click on the three dots and select Show Results to share the results with students. Note: Only staff added as Collaborators to the H5P Multipoll will be able to view and share results. Tip: For matrix polling questions, enter the scale (i.e. Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly Disagree) as the Answers.
Document tool	Recreate using H5P Document tool with the first page containing the question as the Title and a textbox below (with max line height) for text input. Create a second page as the Document export page and embed H5P in an Ultra document.	Create a new folder in H5P for the course and use a consistent naming convention for each content type you reuse/create (i.e. ABCD1234 - Week X - Document tool).
Flipbook with image on one side and text on the other	Recreate using H5P Dialogue Cards and embed H5P in an Ultra document.	Refer to the H5P Dialogue Cards guide.

Rich media content

UQ Extend	Learn.UQ (Blackboard) alternative	Recommended configuration
Echo360 Videos	Create a collection in Echo360, upload the video to Echo360 within that collection and finally embed the EchoVideo in your Learn.UQ course.	Tip: Name your collection with the Course Code and semester (e.g. ABCD1234 Sem X 202X) Warning: Video files uploaded directly to UQ Extend (i.e. not uploaded to a video server by Echo360 or YouTube) must first be downloaded from UQ Extend and re-uploaded to Echo360.
Public or unlisted YouTube videos	Copy the YouTube video URL and embed the YouTube video within a document in Learn.UQ (Blackboard).	Tip: This process should work for other video servers such as Vimeo. Note: It is highly recommended that any existing YouTube videos are uploaded to Echo360 as well. Echo360 is UQ's video server and the recommended system for the upload of videos for use in courses. For more information, refer to the Upload a video to Echo360 guide. Warning: Video files uploaded directly to UQ Extend (i.e. not uploaded to a video server by Echo360 or YouTube) must first be downloaded from UQ Extend and re-uploaded to Echo360.
Images	Download the images from UQ Extend and add images to Ultra document.	Tip: In UQ Extend Studio mode, download the images in bulk from Content > Files and Uploads.
Images in tabs	Recreate as H5P Image Slider and embed H5P in an Ultra document	Also consider if uploading the images to a document in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) and arranging course content on a document would be suitable.
HTML elements	For elements that can only be embedded using HTML (e.g. Google maps, external website content), add a HTML block to a document to embed in Learn.UQ (Blackboard).	Tip: Copy iFrame embed code from UQ Extend's Studio's raw HTML view to avoid retyping.

Text content and formatting tools

Multi-page container	Recreate using H5P Interactive Book and embed H5P in an Ultra document.	Consider converting any existing H5P interactive books to a native Ultra document instead by embedding text/images and any knowledge check questions. Content contained with tabs	Recreate as H5P Course Presentation and embed H5P in an Ultra document.
