Ready to Tutor Week – Registrations now open
Get set for Ready to Tutor Week (25-27 February) which will feature a series of events designed specifically to support UQ tutoring staff. The sessions will provide advice on tutorial planning and presenting as well as assessment, marking and feedback. Sessions will also cover 'What's new in eLearning' and tips on "Working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) students.

Course sites and Course Profiles availability
Please ensure Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course sites and course profiles are available to students at least one week before your first teaching activity, as outlined on the Course Design - Policy site. Course sites must contain a welcome message as a minimum requirement. The remaining online course requirements should be met by the first teaching activity.
Ultra Focus: New functionality
This year, Learn.UQ courses will transition to the new Blackboard Ultra interface. Ultra offers a range of new functionality including document design tools, progress track, test questions with stimulus material, AI assist design tools and updates to self-enrol groups. Most Learn.UQ courses will transition to Ultra in Semester 2.

Respect at UQ training module
Students commencing at UQ in Semester 1 in 2025 will be required to complete the mandatory ‘Respect at UQ’ training module by 5pm on Sunday 16 March 2025. Please be aware that students who have not completed the module by this time will have their Blackboard access removed until they complete the module, during which time you will be unable to mark any assessment work submitted by affected students within your course.
Lead Through Learning Project

New Course Evaluation System for SECaT and SETutor Surveys
SECaT and SETutor Surveys Data Preparation Deadline – 31 March 2025
A reminder to complete data preparation in Course Profile via Jac (or Syllabus Plus) by Census Date - 31 March 2025 to ensure SECaT and SETutor surveys can be generated. A detailed breakdown of data requirements is available in the Evaluation Data Preparation Guide . Key dates for Sem 1, 2025 evaluations are published on our webpage. For any enquiries regarding course teaching feedback surveys, please contact the Student Surveys and Evaluations Team (SSET).
Evaluation System Upgrade
UQ is upgrading the platform for administering SECaT and SETutor surveys to enhance reliability and improve the user experience for staff and students. Faculty-based Change Champions will work with the project team to support the transition. Further details, including project updates, Change Champion contacts, and online resources, will be provided on a project webpage shortly. In the interim, please contact Course Evaluations System Replacement Project via cesrproject@uq.edu.au.
Active learning tools
UQ's active learning tools can be used to engage students and promote deeper understanding in both online and face-to-face sessions. The centrally-supported active learning tools include EchoPoll, PadletUQ, H5P, The Chase and Ed Discussion.
Consultations with an eLearning Adviser
The eLearning Systems and Support team offer eLearning Adviser Consultations to assist course teaching and administrative staff with implementing effective eLearning solutions. Our experienced advisers will guide you in utilising centrally supported eLearning tools.
How well do you know your cohort?
Course Insights, UQ's own course-level learning analytics dashboard, is available to all Course Coordinators via Learn.UQ Blackboard (Original). The Enrolment section provides demographic information to inform teaching strategies.
Course Coordinators can also access student headshots through my.UQ to familiarise themselves with student faces prior to classes.
UQ Systems - Digital Essentials module
The Use UQ Systems module (within the Digital Essentials series) introduces students to Learn.UQ, SI-net, email, BookIt, Echo360, Turnitin, PaperCut, StudentHub and ePortfolio. It is designed to be embedded into courses so students can find the information they need, when they need it.
