Ready, set, Ultra!
This semester, most Learn.UQ courses are using the new Ultra interface. To ensure a smooth start, staff can:
- check their course site using the Ultra conversion checklist
- set-up up their assessment and Gradebook early
- develop skills by attending staff workshops and tutor workshops, completing self-paced modules, accessing Ultra tips, tricks and gotchas and Getting started with Learn.UQ guides.
Getting started with Ultra video (Echo360,13m 48s).
Support your students with Ultra!
It is recommended that course coordinators complete the following Ultra orientation activities:
- create an announcement that informs students your course will be using Ultra using the sample announcement text
- share information on Ultra with students and complete a 2-minute course site tour in the first lecture using the slides and tour instructions
- encourage students to access support options and resources.
Register for Ready to Tutor Week
Get ready for Semester 2 with Ready to Tutor Week (28–31 July). Sessions will cover working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) students, SETutors and other ways of evidencing tutoring expertise, academic integrity and more.
Course sites and course profiles availability
Please ensure Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course site(s) and course profile(s) are made available to students at least one week before your first teaching activity, as outlined on the Course Design Policy site. Course sites must contain a welcome announcement as a minimum requirement. The remaining online course requirements should be met by the first teaching activity.
eLearning Adviser consultations – Ultra assessment and Gradebook
The eLearning Systems and Support team offer eLearning Adviser Consultations to assist course teaching and administrative staff with implementing effective eLearning solutions. Our experienced advisers will guide you in utilising centrally supported eLearning tools.
Get to know your students
Course Insights, UQ's course-level learning analytics dashboard, is available to all course coordinators via Learn.UQ. Review student demographic information this week through the enrolment section (Original) or enrolment section (Ultra) to help inform your teaching strategies.
Course coordinators can also access student headshots through my.UQ and generate a PDF document to familiarise themselves with student faces prior to classes.
Artificial Intelligence – Digital Essentials module
The Artificial Intelligence module (within the Digital Essentials series) introduces students to the different types of AI, the implications of AI to society and what AI research is being done at UQ. The module is embedded into courses to make it more accessible for students.
