Ad hoc recordings in EchoVideo – changes

From the end of Semester 1, ad hoc recordings created in EchoVideo will no longer be published to Lecture Recordings course sections. Instead, the recordings will be added directly to the instructor's personal library in Echo360. If you wish for an ad hoc recording to be shared in your Blackboard course, you can then manually publish this from your personal library.

New Groups functionality – coming soon

Enhancements to Blackboard Ultra Groups are coming soon, with a redesigned experience that improves usability, performance and flexibility for instructors. Groups options will include manually assigned, automatically assigned, self-enrol and import from CSV group sets.

The new interface has been streamlined to display more information within a compact layout, making it easier to view and manage groups and their members without excessive scrolling. These improvements will be rolled out from early July, with further communication provided closer to the release.

Blackboard course requests – new process

All course requests will now be automated, starting with Summer Semester 2026 courses. School administration staff and course coordinators will no longer need to complete the Site Request form. Content and staff enrolments from the most recently completed iteration of each course will automatically be copied over. A new self-service tool will be available for staff to request changes to the new default, such as course merges.

Approaching the second half of a year-long course?

For year-long courses you may need to submit a new course site request and ask for your course to be merged. This will ensure lecture recordings continue to be published to your active course site.
