Recording live oral and practical assessments
For courses with oral and practical assessments it's recommended that sessions be recorded to enable moderation and maintain compliance with assessment record keeping. At UQ, the most effective approach is to use Zoom cloud recording, as recordings are automatically saved to staff’s personal Echo360 library. To enable this, staff must ensure the recommended Zoom meeting settings are selected when scheduling the session.
Accidental release of results in Gradebook
Guides are available to assist staff in managing the accidental release of results for the following tools: Buddycheck, Gradescope and Turnitin. Refer to the guide links below.
The accidental release of Buddycheck results occurs when the publishing of grades process is completed inside Buddycheck.
The accidental release of Gradescope results occurs when the Post Grades to Learn.UQ process is completed inside Gradescope, by design this automatically posts the results in Gradebook.
The accidental release of Turnitin marks occurs when the feedback release date passes. This is generally caused by the feedback release date from the previous semester not being updated.
Ultra feature focus – document design
The Ultra document tool makes it easy to create a well organised, visually engaging learning sequence for your students. Content is added with 'blocks' which can be moved around the page, giving you more display flexibility. You can add images, videos, files and text, and even include knowledge check questions on the page. Watch the video (Echo360, 8m 21s) below to find out how you can start designing Ultra documents for your students.

Digital Inclusive Design at UQ - Read&Write Pilot (ITS)
ITS is progressing a Digital Inclusive Design project focused on improving the accessibility and usability of digital learning tools at UQ. As part of this work, ITS is piloting the Read&Write app with select staff and students.
Read&Write is an assistive and study‑support tool that works alongside Blackboard, offering features such as text‑to‑speech, reading and writing supports, screen masking and highlighting. These tools benefit a broad range of students and complement inclusive teaching practices.
How you can get involved
- participate in or support the Read&Write pilot
- provide feedback to help inform future ITS recommendations.
