Happy Holidays!
This is the last Teaching and eLearning News for 2021. On behalf of ITaLI, we hope you have an enjoyable break and we are looking forward to working with you in the New Year. The next Teaching and eLearning News will be distributed on 10 January 2022.
Automatically publish lecture recordings from Zoom to Echo360
Teaching staff are asked to make sure Zoom recordings are published automatically to Echo360. Zoom cloud storage of recordings is only a temporary service.
Videos in Echo360 – are students watching?
Staff can view analytics on student engagement for any videos uploaded to Echo360, including recordings transferred from Zoom. This includes information on the number of views of individual videos and a breakdown of individual student engagement.
UQ Extend pilot
ITaLI and ITS have launched the UQ Extend Learning Management System pilot project. The pilot will use the open-source Open edX platform to deliver wholly online and blended learning experiences to approximately 700 Economics students. The project team will provide priority support and monitoring. UQ Extend will serve as a platform to enable UQ learning innovations.
Turnitin GradeScope now available
GradeScope facilitates the marking of handwritten assessments such as math, chemistry and physics, but can also be used for marking computer software. Gradescope uses AI to group similar student responses together for simultaneous marking and feedback, greatly improving the efficiency of the marking process in large courses. Coordinators can set GradeScope up for either student submission of scanned documents or staff submission. Gradescope is now available for all courses. View the guides or attend a workshop to find out more.

UQ ePortfolio system - Semester 2, 2022
ePortfolios encourage engagement through drafting, reworking and feedback uptake. UQ's ePortfolio system enables the collection of authentic assessment pieces program-wide and provides a space for students to make sense of their employability development and create a professional portfolio.
Cyber security
The cyber security website provides both general and UQ-specific information on digital security. Find comprehensive, understandable content on how to recognise online security threats, protect yourself from these threats and stay secure, as well as links to report cyber security incidents.
Learn more at the Cyber security at UQ webpage.
iThenticate - Text matching for research papers
The iThenticate text matching system for researchers is available to all UQ staff. While iThenticate uses the same underlying technology and database as Turnitin, the functionality, user experience and reports are designed to meet the needs of researchers. iThenticate allows you to quickly upload, check and examine documents using a web-based interface. Researchers can also share documents, collaborate in groups and view in-depth analytics to provide visibility of content submissions and levels of originality over time.
