Improve PDF accessibility in Learn.UQ courses

The following accessibility issues are often identified with PDF files uploaded to Learn.UQ courses, most of which can be addressed within the course itself using course accessibility tools (Blackboard Ally):

  1. The PDF is untagged
  2. The PDF does not have a title
  3. The PDF does not have a language set
  1. The PDF contains text with insufficient contrast
  2. The PDF contains images without a description

An image description, sometimes referred to as 'alternative description' or 'alt text', is a textual alternative for an image. It makes it easier to connect the image to its context and allows students with visual impairments to perceive the image.

Unfortunately, the only way to fix this issue is if you have the original, editable version of this file. If so, you would need to add alternatively text to the identified images, save and then reupload the file.
