New Turnitin: To do list
With the transition from Classic Turnitin to New Turnitin, course coordinators are strongly encouraged to complete the following tasks.
- Delete and replace any old links (must be done)
- Import your Classic rubrics
- Consider converting to or creating a mark-range rubric
- Import your Classic QuickMarks
- Ensure the link is NOT set to open in a new window.
Note, the filter by Blackboard group functionality is not yet available in New Turnitin. It is recommended that students are instructed to include their group name in Submission title so markers can search by that group.
New lectern PC web sign-in and deletion of confidential material
UQ has introduced a new sign-in experience for Lectern PCs called Web Sign-In. When you sign into the PC, you will be signed into applications such as Microsoft Teams, Office, and Edge, without further MFA prompts. For convenience, the lectern machine will sync all desktop files and document folders from OneDrive. After you log off your profile anything saved to the machine will be deleted.
Blackboard Ultra: Document layout enhancements
When adding content to the native document tool in Ultra, instructors can stack blocks of text and other media content within a block. The document editing function has clear and diverse menu categories for formatting and adjustment. New pre-set styling options are also available to improve visual consistency and highlight key information.
Check your Blackboard MCQ test questions
Since January new multiple-choice questions in Blackboard tests have been allowing students to select more than one option by default. For any new questions you create, please set the applicable number of correct answers. The vendor plans to change the default back to one option in the April Ultra update release.
Ultra Focus: Progress tracking
The Progress Tracking tool available in Blackboard Ultra helps students track the content or activities they have accessed. Students can manually check-off resources as complete, supporting self-directed learning. Course coordinators can easily monitor student engagement with individual course resources (Echo360, 3m 17s).

Can students easily locate their assessments on your course site?
To make your assessment and related resources easy to locate, it is recommended to create a separate folder for each individual assessment within the Assessment folder / learning module. Within each folder, the first item should be the submission link, followed by the relevant student instructions.
Student engagement with lecture recordings
Echo360, our platform for video capture and storage, provides analytical data to help you monitor student engagement with lecture recordings. Staff can access the number of views on individual recordings including course, student, and engagement data.
