Course sites and course profiles availability
Please ensure Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course sites and course profiles are available to students at least one week before your first teaching activity, as outlined on the Course Design – Policy site. Course sites must contain a welcome message as a minimum requirement. The remaining online course requirements should be met by the first teaching activity.
Student preferred names in Blackboard
The next stage of the Student Preferred Names Initiative will introduce the use of students’ preferred names in Blackboard and connected sub-systems such as Turnitin. From the start of O-Week, Semester 1, the first name displayed in Blackboard will be sourced from the preferred first name field, if set by the student in mySI-net.
Accessible formats are available for Learn.UQ course content
Students can now automatically-generate alternative formats for course content uploaded to Learn.UQ with no additional work required by the Instructor. Students can choose from a range of formats depending on the file type, including HTML, ePub, electronic braille, audio, Beeline Reader, tagged PDF, OCRed PDF and Immersive Reader.
To help course coordinators explain alternative formats to students, sample Learn.UQ announcement text and a PowerPoint slide deck for use in your first lecture are available.
