Declutter your Learn.UQ course checklist
The following checklist provides helpful tips on how to declutter your Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course site and make it more manageable and to prepare for Ultra the next version of Blackboard.
Review content and delete unused items
Imagine if the digital files stored in your Learn.UQ course were physical files. How much space would they take up in your office? We recommend reviewing your Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course content and removing any unused items to declutter your course.
Request access to the last version of your course(s)
Gaining access to previous iterations will allow you to delete any outdated content in your current course site with confidence. To request access to a previous version, simply contact the Course Coordinator listed on the Course Profile and if they are not contactable, email your Head of School for approval and forward their approval to help@elearning.uq.edu.au.
Reduce your folder levels
Learning materials can easily get buried deep within folders and sub-folders. To make it easier for students to locate learning materials, we recommend using a maximum of 2 folder levels. For example, within Learning Resources you may have a Week 1 folder and a Workshop sub-folder containing learning materials.
Upload and embed videos through EchoVideo
Rather than uploading video files directly to your course, upload and embed them through EchoVideo to free up space in your Learn.UQ course site. EchoVideo offers a range of benefits including automatic captions and transcriptions, as well as a better viewing experience for students
Adhere to the Course Site Design guidelines
To ensure your course site adheres to the Learn.UQ course site design guidelines, you can self-enrol in the Course Site Design Exemplar course to see an example of how these guidelines can be effectively implemented. You can also use the Self-Assessment tool for customised suggestions to improve your course site design and to receive guidance on how to implement these suggestions.
