Stage 4: Ultra Courses Activation Project
Enabling phase
Change management projects to transition courses off legacy tools and engagement with stakeholders responsible for faculty and school support tools regarding testing on Ultra courses. Course identification for enabling projects, treatment testing and an adoption approach to be determined.

Updates
- An Ultra Example Course is available for staff to self-enrol in to experience Blackboard’s new look and functionality for course sites from a student perspective. Staff can access the Ultra Example Course after self-enrolling. We would like to thank Dr Alex Bevan for allowing us to use her excellent course content.
- A declutter your course campaign has been run, including the creation of a change management pack which was shared with key stakeholders to distribute to schools and faculties, the creation of a Declutter your Learn.UQ course checklist and the publication of regular newsletter articles to communicate key messages at relevant points throughout the semester.
- Minor changes have been made to the Ultra template for Semester 2, 2024 courses based on feedback
- 42 courses have opted to use Ultra in Semester 2, 2024. These consist of Course Coordinators that used Ultra in the Proof of Concept, as well as any Semester 1, 2024 repeating or year-long Ultra courses.
Semester 1 2025 Ultra courses
A limited deployment of Ultra will be delivered S1 2025. It will include courses of course coordinators that previously used Ultra, as well as repeating Ultra courses. Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses will be delivered using Ultra, as well as Medicine program courses and optionally new courses.

- All courses have been successfully converted to Ultra and updated based on the adapted template
- The project team has supported staff in setting up their assessment and Gradebook, with check-ins booked for early in the semester.
- Course Coordinators have been provided with a change management pack which is being used to communicate the purpose and benefits of the Ultra proof of concept to students
- Professional staff in schools have been contacted and consultations will occur mid-semester to discuss the impact of Ultra on grade finalisation processes.
