Learning Journeys in Learn.UQ

A journey guides the student through the learning content including resources from a variety of different systems presented relatively seamlessly. This guide explains the basic technical principles required to generate a pedagogical 'learning journey' for students using UQ's eLearning tools. A 'learning journey' guides the student through the learning content including resources from a variety of different systems presented in a seamless display. Principles used in this guide include:

Ideas that are easy to use and can be implemented by all teaching staff
Using licensed or supported eLearning tools
Scaleable practices
Ideas that require minimal redesign of current course content

Note: We are awaiting the expected rewrite of Learning Pathways as part of the digital roadmap program and look forward to including this as part of the Learning Journeys in Learn.UQ guide in the future.

Setup your learning journey structure

There are currently two options for setting up the structure of your learning journey in Learn.UQ. These options are both demonstrated in the Learning Journeys in Learn.UQ exemplar course site.

Option 1

The first option is to use the standard Content Folder used by the majority of Learn.UQ courses.

Content Folders are used to collate course content into areas of relevance for students eg. Weeks or Modules.

Option 2

The second option is to use a Learning Module, which present content within the module in a Table of Contents format, where each item within the module is given its own page.

Tip: You can remove the folder or learning module icons to improve the visual look of your course. For further information, refer to the Change Icons / Text Links guide.

Add videos directly into your learning journey

Videos can be directly embedded into your Learn.UQ course via EchoVideo. This provides students with the following benefits:

The video appears alongside other learning content.
Transcripts and closed captioning are available with the video.
