EchoVideo Deep Linking Tool

This guide describes how to link to or embed an Echo360 desktop recordings from within your Blackboard Course site.

A desktop recording occurs when you create a video of all of the computer screen (including webcams) and audio activity on your computer. Desktop recording can also be used to produce Voice-over-PowerPoint (VOP) online lectures.

Embed an EchoVideo in your course site

In the Learning Resources content area, navigate to the specific folder where you want to place your Echo video.
Click on Build Content.
From the drop-down list, select Item.

Type the resource name in the Name textbox.
Click on the + icon in the Rich Content Editor (the text area).

From the options that appear, select EchoVideo Deep Linking Tool.

Note: If this is your first time using this tool, you may have to set up your Echo connection to Blackboard. Use this Getting Started guide to help you.

Select the desired video and click Next.
Choose from the following Embed Options on the following page.

1 Size - for full-screen width, leave the size at 640 x 420 | For half-screen size, use 320 x 240.
2 Start at - if you want the students to start at a certain point in the video (not at the beginning) change the minutes and seconds.
3 Autoplay - toggle across if you want the video to start immediately. This will automatically disable the option to automute.
Automute - toggle across if your students would prefer the control to turn on the sound.

Note: You can only embed one item at a time.

Click Insert. A 'Success!' message will appear. You may close the LTI Launch Return tab.

Return to the course site tab and refresh the window.
Your now-embedded Echo content will be at the bottom. Move it to the desired position.

Link to an EchoVideo

In the Learning Resources content area, navigate to the specific folder where you want to place your Echo video.
Click on Build Content.

Select EchoVideo Deep Linking Tool from the list of content items available.

Note: If this is your first time using this tool, you may have to set up your Echo connection to Blackboard. Use this Getting Started guide to help you.

The external tool will automatically open and you will be taken to Your Library in a new tab within EchoVideo. From this library, select the video you wish to link. You can use the search bar function to find it more easily.
Click on the Next button.

Click on the Link toggle.
Click on the Insert button.

You will find your added Echo video at the bottom of your Blackboard webpage. Move it to the desired position.
