Upload your Presentation to Echo360 ALP

  1. From the Course Menu, select Learning Resources.
  2. Click on the Lecture Recordings link, it will display in a new tab.

  1. Click on the required lecture or seminar Add presentation icon.

Note: If you need to use the system for a non recorded activity, such as a tutorial create a new class. i.e. click on the NEW CLASS button.

  1. Click on the Upload a File button.

  1. Navigation to and select the required PowerPoint or PDF file.

Note: Depending on the size of the file the presentation could take a while to upload. You may need to refresh your browser for the green icon to be displayed.

  1. The presentation icon will be displayed as green when the upload is complete.

Add Activity Slides to your Presentation

  1. Click on the green Presentation icon.
  2. Select Edit presentation from the drop-down menu.

  1. Click on the OK button.

Note: The below example illustrates responding to a Multiple Choice question (set up as a True/False question).

  1. Click on the ADD ACTIVITY button.
  2. Click on the Multiple choice button.

  1. Enter the activity question.

Tip: Add the slide number to the beginning of the question, this will help students who have not been following along find the slide.

  1. Optionally, check the Embed media checkbox.
  2. If there is one or more right answers check the All correct answers must be selected in order to be correct checkbox.
  3. Enter the answer options.
  4. Optionally, use the  buttons to deal unneeded answer options.
  5. Optionally, click on the ADD ANSWER  button to add additional answer options.
  6. Optionally, if there are one or more correct answers select the relevant CORRECT button/s.
  7. Optionally, if you want students to answer a short answer justification question after completing the multiple choice question check the Require justification.
  8. Click on the DONE button.

Prepare your Students

Before your first session inform your students you will be using the application.

  1. Encourage students to bring a smart device to class (laptop, tablet or phone);
  2. Refer students to the UQ Library Echo360 ALP Classroom Tools guides:
  3. Students using a smart phone will need to download the Echo360 app prior to coming to class.

Note: The below steps should be also demonstrated to students as they will access Echo360 ALP the same way if using a laptop or tablet. Students using the Echo360 app can open the presentation through the app.

  1. From the Course Menu, select Learning Resources.
  2. Click on the Lecture Recordings link, it will display in a new tab.

Navigate your Echo360 ALP presentation

Note: Use of a presentation in Echo360 ALP does not affect the lecture recording as whatever is on the screen is captured.

Note: The below steps should be also demonstrated to students. Students will be able to view an extra icon which allows them to display and use a personal note taking panel, they can view these notes with the lecture recording (only their own).

  1. Hover over the slide.
  2. Use the Next Slide and Previous Slide navigate through the presentation.

Tip: To use Echo360 ALP with a clicker, hover your mouse of the Next Slide arrow.

  1. Optionally, click on the Screen icon to toggle full-screen view on and off.
  2. Optionally, click on Tile View to view all slides in the presentation.
  3. Students can click on the Flag icon to indicate they are 'confused'.


  1. Once in Tile View, select a slide to view it. 

Note: The red numbers indicate how many students have selected that they are 'confused' by the slide.

Delivery an Activity Slide

  1. Remind students which slide you are up to in case they have not been following the presentation in Echo360 ALP.
  2. Encourage students to answer and remind them they need to click the Submit button.

Note: Students may need to scroll or zoom in to view all the options and/or the Submit button.

Note: Students cannot use the SMS option unless they have pre-entered their phone number into the system.

  1. The number of students who have submitted will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Click on the Bar Graph icon to display the results.

Note: The 'out of' number of submission is the number of students who have ever used the lecture recording link, not the number of students viewing the presentation

  1. Optionally, click on the Hand icon to close the activity to student submissions.
  2. Optionally, after you have closed the activity click on the Line Graph icon to display the correct answer.
  3. Optionally, to have students redo the question click on the Reset activity button.

Participation Analytics

Analytics of activity in your lecture or seminar may take up to 24 hours before they will be made available in Echo360 ALP. Refer to the Course Analytics - Overview guide by Echo360.
