Private channels in your course Team site (Original)
A channel in Microsoft Teams is used to focus conversations on a specific topic, project or department.
Your Course Coordinator might create private channels for your course's group assessment or your tutor might create a private channel for your tutorial group. You should have access to these private channels after being added to these channels. If your course does not have private channels for group work, you can create a group chat for collaboration.
For example:
In your group private channel, you can:
- create or upload files for collaboration
- create a list of tasks and assign these to your group members.
Note: Your Course Coordinator needs to allow the 'add tab' permission for you to create a tab of the document if you are working in a private channel. Ask your Course Coordinator to refer to the Channel settings in Teams guide for more information (this guide is only available for teaching staff).
