11. Create section with stimulus - image and text

The stimulus (image, text, or video) provide students with the reference (e.g., a case study) to answer a group of questions in an assessment. The stimulus and the associated questions are grouped into a section in an assessment. Please download the image and text used for the stimulus (ZIP, 123.8 KB) in this question.

Tasks to complete

Create a section with stimulus

  1. Click on the New section tab on your question set.
  2. Enter the section name "Australian values".
  3. Click on the layout icon and select the Vertical layout with left stimulus option.

Note: The left stimulus is recommended as it enhances accessibility to the students. By default, the option Allow students to resize stimulus has been selected to enhance accessibility.

  1. Click on the Done button.
  2. Click on the Create new stimulus button.
  3. Select the option Document (because this is an unmarked question type so it is used to add information).
  4. Enter "Australian values" in the document name textbox.
  5. Delete "Replace with question text" from the question text area.
  6. Click on the image icon from the text editor panel.
  7. Click on the Browse button.
  8. Select the Australian value-image file that you have downloaded to your device.
  9. Enter 'Group of people' to the Alternative textbox.
  10. Click on the Insert button. The image is added to the question text area.
  11. Enter a new line.
  12. Copy and paste the text from the file Australian values-text you have downloaded to your device onto the question text area.

Add labels

  1. Click on the Labels button on the right, enter "your name", "test name", "australian values" and click on the plus button.

Note: Labels are useful for the author (e.g. course coordinator) to find the questions for future use.

  1. Click on the Preview button. The preview will be opened to a new tab on your browser.
  2. Close the preview window.
  3. Click on the Save button.
  4. Click on the Close button.
