Turnitin Analytics (Original)
This guide explains how to access Turnitin analytics and use it to gauge student participation and success.
- From the Course menu select Assessment.
- Navigate to the required assessment folder and click on the Turnitin Submission link.
- Click on the Analytics tab.
Analytics
From the Analytics Dashboard you can access
- Submissions Timeline: the number of submissions chartered against the date of submission with the late submissions (if enabled in the assignment settings) marked red (1)
- Similarity Score: similarity score ranges with the breakdown by % ranges (2)
- Average Source Variety: average percentage of papers that contained a particular type of source (3)
- Submissions: number of submissions and resubmissions (4)
- Feedback: number of students who viewed/not viewed their feedback and the average time before feedback is viewed (5).
Rubrics and Grading Forms
Overview
Analytics are available on the student achievement on each rubric criteria as both: a score and a performance descriptor.
Rubric Numeric Results
- The view will display a list of all students and
- (1) Rubric criteria and
- (2) the scores the students received for each criterion.
Tip: The data can be used to identify criteria that students find difficult or criteria students did well in.
Rubric Qualitative Results
Select Qualitative from the Details drop-down list. The view will display a list of all students and
- (1) Rubric criteria and
- (2) the performance descriptors the students received for each criterion.
QuickMarks Sets
Overview
- Select QuickMarks from the dropdown list.
The view will display a list of all students and
- (1) what QuickMarks sets were used and
- (2) the number of comments students received from each set.
QuickMark Sets
Information is also available on the most used comments from each QuickMark set.
- Select the required QuickMark set from the Details dropdown list.
- The view will display a list of all students and
- (1)the Comments that were used and
- (2) the number of times students received each comment.
Export Full Data
- Click on the Export Full Data button.
- Select the location where you would like the save the Excel file and click on the Save button.
- The downloaded Excel spreadsheet will display the following data:
- Submissions Data Range: the number of submissions broken down against the date of submission (1)
- Similarity Score Range: similarity score ranges with the breakdown by % ranges (2)
- Average Source Variety: average percentage of papers that contained a particular type of source (3)
- Submissions: number of submissions and resubmissions (4)
- Feedback: number of students who viewed/not viewed their feedback and the average time before feedback is viewed (5).
- Student submissions: individual student data (6).

- (In a separate sheet) Rubric Form - Numeric: individual student data (8)
- (In a separate sheet) Quickmarks - Overview: individual student data (9)
