Overview

Refer to the Marks / Rubrics / Grading Forms Overview guide for information on the different types of rubrics available in TurnItIn.

Note: The availability of forms is based on who is logged on, not what Blackboard course the TurnItIn assignment is accessed from. You tutors may need to import a copy of the form so they can use it for marking (refer to the Export / Import a rubric/form guide).

Note: Grading forms cannot be used on the iPad app.

High Distinction: 9-10

Rigorously argued; very high standard of critical analysis; logical structure clear and perspicuous.

Credit: 7-8

Generally well argued but includes some points requiring more careful exposition or clarification.

Pass: 5-6

Adequately argued but includes some careless analysis, irrelevance or vagueness.

Fail:  0- 4

Confusion; flawed and disorderly analysis; irrelevance, no sequiturs, incoherent argument.

 

Evidence (20)

High Distinction:  17-20
Excellent and original illustrations, examples or supporting quotations.

Credit:  14-16
Satisfactory examples, textual support or quotations.

Pass: 10-13
Acceptable choice of illustrations, quotations and examples.

Fail:  0-9
Bad, inappropriate or absence of illustrations and textual support.

 

Conclusion (15)

High Distinction:  14-15
Major themes of essay are drawn together and well supported.

Credit: 11-13
Generally well supported, some gaps remain.

Pass: 8-10
Acceptable, some significant issues not adequately addressed.

Fail:  0-9
Serious failure to provide supporting argument for central issue(s) or claims.

 

Scholarship (5)

High Distinction: 5
Extensive research, careful and balanced selection of representative sample key points.

Credit: 4
Standard range of references, satisfactory choice of key texts.

Pass: 3
Acceptable range of texts and sources.

Fail:  0-2
Fails to refer to recommended readings and key text or other suitable alternatives.argument for central issue(s) or claims.

 

Add a form

A form can be added when you first set up your TurnItIn assignment under Optional settings or by editing an existing assignment.

Refer to the guides Create a TurnItIn Assignment (text-based), Create a TurnItIn Assignment (non-text based),  Create a TurnItIn Assignment (no file submission) or Reuse a TurnItIn Assignment.

  1.  Navigate to the required assignment link.
  2. Click on the assignment title.
  3. Click on the cog button.

  1. Expand Optional settings and check the Attach a rubric checkbox.

  1. Launch Rubric Manager panel will be displayed. Click on the Launch Rubric Manager button.

  1. Click on the menu button.
  2. Select Create new grading form from the drop-down list.

  1. Enter a name for the form.
  2. Click on the Criteria (plus) icon to add additional criteria.
  3. To delete a criterion click on the rubbish bin icon.

  1. Enter a title for each criterion.
  2. Optionally, enter a description of each criterion.
  3. Optionally, if you do not want to give a mark for each criterion, uncheck the Enable scoring button.

Note: It is only possible to specify what each criterion is “out of” as part of the title/description.

  1. Click on the SAVE button.
  2. Click on the CLOSE button.
