Rather than a full Teaching and Learning Week this year, ITaLI will be hosting Teaching and Learning Reimagined on 2–4 November. In this series of online events addressed to the UQ teaching community, we will reflect on the challenges and achievements throughout 2020 and what T&L changes can be retained, or improved upon.

Personal consultations for online exams and eLearning tools available

The eLearning Solutions Service offers personal consultations for course teaching staff, support staff and designers on how to use eLearning tools. The service includes support for selecting and configuring technologies for online examinations.

How do students submit a Video Assignment?

Kaltura media makes video assignments easy for both staff and students. This video guides students through the process of uploading their video to My Media and submitting the assignment.

Step-by-step instructions on how students submit their video assignments using Kaltura media are also available.

Custom workshops for teaching staff, tutors and professional staff

Custom workshops on centrally-supported eLearning tools are available on request for faculties, schools and individual courses. Laptops are provided for the sessions and course coordinators only need to book a meeting room. Contact eLearning with details of the preferred date, time, room booking and approximate numbers.

Turnitin - Roster Sync

Assignments in Turnitin only includes students who were enrolled in a course when the assignment was created. To allow students to submit assignments where they have enrolled in the course after you have created the assignment, teaching staff will need to update the class list using the Roster Sync function.

Recording teaching activities in Summer Semester and Semester 1, 2021

Automatic recording with Echo360 will not be available in Summer Sem and Sem 1, 2021 as lectures (and some other class activities) are not allocated an on-campus location. Options for recording lectures and teaching are available via the link below.

Writing for the Web - Digital Essentials module

The Writing for the Web module (part of Digital Essentials) teaches students how to write for online audiences and explores different ways to produce online content. It is designed to be embedded into courses so students can find the information they need, when they need it.

Course Insights - Be prepared for student consultations

Course Insights is UQ's own course-level learning analytics dashboard, available to all course coordinators via Learn.UQ. The Student section allows staff to view engagement and assessment information about an individual student alongside cohort data.

Student-Staff Partnerships project submissions open

The Student-Staff Partnerships (SSP) program team is calling for project submissions for Round 1, 2021. Submissions are open until 29 November and may be from individual staff members or teams of students/staff for a semester-long project.
