Create a multiple-response question

  1. Click on the Create New button
  2. Select Multiple response under the Automatically marked questions list.
  3. Enter "Australian native animals" into the New Question textbox.
  4. Delete Replace with question text and enter "Which of the following animals are native to Australia's unique wildlife ecosystem?"
  5. Click on the interaction area.
  6. The prompt "Select one or more alternatives" is added by default.
  7. Optionally, you can replace this text by "Select FOUR alternatives/animals:"
  8. Enter the alternatives:
  • Polar Bears 
  • Kangaroos 
  • Koalas 
  • Penguins
  • Platypuses
  • Cockatoos

Note: By default, the alternatives 2 and 3 are selected (with the green radio button) as the correct answers. Select the radio buttons for kangraroos, koalas, plattypuses and cockatoos.

  1. Click on the Option button.
  • Normally, you would not need to enter the lower or the upper mark limit.
  • The randomization has been selected by default.
  • Limit maximum selections: 4. Note: By limitting the maximum selection, you provide students more direction in answering the multiple response question. 
  1. Click on the Close button.
  2. Click on the Marks button. By default,
  • Marks per correct answer is 1, adjust to 0.25.
  • Marks per wrong answer is 0
  • Marks for unanswered is 0
  • Marks for all correct is blank
  • Minimum marks is blank
  1. Click on the Labels button on the right, enter  "your name", "test name", "aus native animals" and click on the plus button.

Note: Labels are useful for the author (e.g. course coordinator) to find the questions for future use.

  1. Click on the Preview button. The preview will be opened to a new tab on your browser.
  2. Close the preview window.
  3. Click on the Save button.
  4. Click on the Close button.
