Buddycheck for group peer assessment
Buddycheck – UQ’s new group peer assessment tool – allows students to evaluate the individual contributions of group members during a project. It can formatively identify struggling groups early and trigger appropriate support strategies for summative assessment.
Gradescope for handwritten assignments
UQ guides are now available for submitting and marking handwritten assignments in Gradescope. Find out how to:
- copy a Gradescope assignment (reuse assignments)
- mark by group in Gradescope (set up custom marking groups)
- apply late penalties in Gradescope.

ECP due date: 31 August
A reminder to Course Coordinators that all ECP data should be finalised by Thursday 31 August. After this date, the Evaluations team will use ECP data to create SECaT surveys. If you coordinate multiple offerings of the same course (where one offering has 6 of less enrolments) and would like to request your SECaTs to be merged into one survey, please contact Evaluations as soon as possible.
Programmatic approaches to assessment
The Digital Assessment team is hosting an event for Learning Designers, Course Coordinators and educators on programmatic approaches to assessment on 29 August 2023, 1–2pm. Dr Luke Zaphir and will discuss key ideas from two articles; posing a series of questions to prompt discussion.
Choose the right tool: a module for guiding students
Teaching staff can advertise the Choose the right tool module to help students find and compare specific digital study platforms like spreadsheets, 3D modelling, coding, studying, writing, multimedia, collaboration and more. The module can be embedded into courses so students can find information when needed.
Learning Design Community and eLearning Update
The Learning Design Community will meet from 10–12 noon on 31 August to support and discuss teaching and learning through collaboration and communication across the University and provide a forum to discuss opportunities.

Record reason for mark changes video
Our video explains how to edit and record the reason for changing a student’s mark in the Learn.UQ (Blackboard) Grade Centre (YouTube, 1m 14s).
You can view the comments in the Grade History section and check for errors before transferring your grades to SI-net at the end of the semester.
