Testing available for the 2017 Learn.UQ upgrade - 10/11 July

The Blackboard upgrade is approaching and staff are now encouraged to login to the staging environment to assess any specific impact on their courses. Many staff will already have instructor access to a course in the staging environment.  Overall, the upgrade does not impose significant change for end-users, and minimal impact is expected.

If you would like to have a course created for you in the staging environment, please email the helpdesk with your name, course name and code, and a request to copy your course over to the staging environment. Once this has been arranged, you can experiment within your course in the test environment.

Upon successful completion of the upgrade, a list of new capabilities will be communicated.

Processing Grades - help

Request your Semester 2 course

Order your Semester 2 course now! Complete the Course Request online form located under the Staff tab in Learn.UQ.

Visit the Course Request webpage for further information.

Change to course requests

In response to feedback from coordinators, there will be a change in the way Grade Centre is created for Semester 2 courses. Columns from the previous semester will no longer be copied. This approach will solve the issue of undeletable orphaned columns. While Tests and questions will be copied forward to the new courses, coordinators will need to recreate the required link and update the settings. Refer to the Deploy a test guide for step-by-step instructions.

Staff can still request that Grade Centre columns be copied by adding this information to the Other Requirements field in the Course Request form.

Course Reading Lists

For your course reading lists to be processed in time for Semester 2, please submit them as soon as possible using one of the two options below:
1. Publish your ECP
OR
2. Email your course reading list to: learningresources@library.uq.edu.au.

iThenticate - Text matching for research papers

The iThenticate text matching system for researchers is now available to all UQ staff. While iThenticate uses the same underlying technology and database as Turnitin, the functionality, user experience and reports are designed to meet the needs of researchers. iThenticate allows you to quickly upload, check and examine documents using a web-based interface. Researchers can share documents and collaborate in groups. iThenticate includes in-depth analytics to provide visibility of content submissions and levels of originality over time.

Refer to the Getting started with iThenticate guide for step-by-step instructions.

eLearning policies and procedures

The ownership of the eLearning procedures has been transferred from the Director of ITS to the DVC(A).  A number of the procedures have been updated and will be moved from Information and Communication Technology (6).  They will now be located under Teaching and Learning (3).

We would love your feedback!
