Review accessibility scores and improve accessibility (Ultra)

Course accessibility tools scan new and existing course content based on an accessibility checklist and assign an accessibility score ranging from "Low" to "Perfect". For more information, refer to the Accessibility Scores guide by Anthology.

Note: Students cannot see the accessibility score for course content, this is only visible to staff.

Only the following file types can be scanned for accessibility:

PDF files
Microsoft® Word files
Microsoft® PowerPoint® files
OpenOffice/LibreOffice files
Uploaded HTML files
Image files (JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF)
Content within Ultra documents (including YouTube videos)

You are then able to review the assigned accessibility score and view the full list of accessibility issues that were identified. Course accessibility tools will provide detailed guidance for instructors on how to address the identified issues. For more information, refer to the Improve Content Accessibility guide by Anthology.

Review accessibility scores and improve accessibility for files

Access your Learn.UQ course.
Locate a file uploaded to your course.
Click on the Accessibility Score next to the title of the file.

Note: It usually takes between 15 - 90 seconds for content to be scanned and an accessibility score to be generated, however it may take longer for larger or more complex content.

A pop-up window will open and show a preview of the file on the left and a panel on the right which will guide you through how to address the identified accessibility issue(s).
Click on the All issues button to view the full list of the identified accessibility issues.
Select an issue from the list and follow the guidance provided to fix the issue.

Once an issues is fixed, you will see your accessibility score improve.
Once all issues have been addressed, click on the X in the top right-hand corner to close the pop-up window and return the course.

Review accessibility scores and improve accessibility for Ultra documents

Locate the Ultra document in your course.
Click on the title to open the document.

Click on the Edit Content button.

Click on the Accessibility Score at the top of the page to review the accesibility score

Once an issues is fixed, you will see your accessibility score improve.
Once all issues have been addressed, click on the X in the top right-hand corner to close the pop-up window and return to editing the Ultra document.

Finally, click on the Save button.

Warning: You must save the document, otherwise the accessibility improvemsents and changes you made will not be saved.
