Copy a test or question bank (Ultra)

Why would I need to copy a test from an Ultra course?

You may wish to copy a Test or question bank between courses you teach into or you may just want to create a duplicate copy of a test / question bank for you current course.

Why would I need to copy a test from an Original course?

You may need to copy a test or question pool from a previous original course site if it was not included in the Ultra conversion of the course. You may also need to do another copy of a Test or Question pool if you had Jumbled Sentence questions in your course. The Jumble Sentence question type was added to Ultra in the June 2025 system update.

Note: Question pools (from Original courses) have been renamed to Question banks in Ultra courses.

Copy a Test from an Ultra course (including your current course)

Select Content from the navigation bar.
Open the assessment folder.
Click on the Add new content (+) sign.
Select Copy Content from the drop-down list.
Click on the Search by course name or ID textbox, enter the course code for the course you want to copy content from. e.g. ARCH3130.
Note: if copying content within the same course you will need to search for it and select it.
Click on the version of the course you want to copy content from e.g. a previous Semester.
Click on the Assessment folder.
Note: This is assuming that the Test has been deployed into the Assessment folder in the Original course.
Continue to navigate through the course until you find the Test to copy.
Check the checkbox next to the Test to copy.
Tip: You can select additional Tests by checking the checkboxes next to additonal Tests.
Click on the Start Copy button.
A copying content message will appear and will change to complete once the copy has finished.
The copied content will appear in the location you selected.
Tip: You might need to referesh your browser tab to see the Test.
Click on the test and review all test settings. For further information on test settings, refer to the Recommended Test Settings guide.
Review all questions in test for formatting and accuracy.

Copy question banks from an Ultra course (Including your current course)

Select Content from the navigation bar.
Click on the More options for course content elipsis (3 dots) button and select Copy Items from the drop-down list.
Click on the Search by course name or ID textbox, enter the course code for the course you want to copy content from. e.g. ARCH3130.
Note: if copying content within the same course you will need to search for it and select it.
Click on the version of the course you want to copy content from e.g. a previous Semester.
Click on the Question bank folder.
Note: Question banks is the replacement name for Question pools (Original name) in Ultra courses.
Check the checkbox next to the Question bank to copy.
Tip: You can select additional Question banks by checking the checkboxes next to each question bank.
Click on the Start Copy button.
A copying content message will appear and will change to complete once the copy has finished.
Click on Question Banks from the Details & Actions menu.
Review all questions in the copied question banks for formatting and accuracy.

Copy a test from an Original course

Note: In order to copy a test from an Original course, the desired test will need to first be deployed in the course you are copying from. For further information on deploying a test, refer to the Deploy a Test guide.

Select Content from the navigation bar.
Open the assessment folder.
Click on the Add new content (+) sign.
Select Copy Content from the drop-down list.
Click on the Search by course name or ID textbox, enter the course code for the course you want to copy content from. e.g. ARCH3130.
Click on the version of the course you want to copy content from e.g. a previous Semester.
Click on the Assessment folder.
Note: This is assuming that the Test has been deployed into the Assessment folder in the Original course.

Copy question pools from an Original course

Note: Question pools in Original courses are called Question banks in Ultra, when copying Question pools from an original course they will be listed as Quetion Banks.

Click on the Search by course name or ID textbox, enter the course code for the course you want to copy content from. e.g. ARCH3130.
Click on the version of the course you want to copy content from e.g. a previous Semester.
Click on the Question bank folder.

Check the checkbox next to the Question bank to copy.
Tip: You can select additional Question banks by checking the checkboxes next to each question bank.
Click on the Start Copy button.

Click on Question Banks from the Details & Actions menu.
Review all questions in the copied question banks for formatting and accuracy.

Discontinued question types

Opinion Scale/Likert

Action: Opinion Scale/Likert questions have been discontinued by the vendor and would have been remove from copied tests. It is recommended these questions are replaced with a Multiple Choice Question. Or alternatively for tests that consist of only this question type consider using a Blackboard Form (survey) or Microsoft Forms instead.

Ordering questions

Action: Ordering questions have been discontinued by the vendor and would have been remove from copied tests. It is recommended these questions are replaced with a matching question.
