Creating a Learning Module

Learning modules presents course material using a table of contents.

Note: All types of content such as item, file, content items, web link, content folder and multimedia links can be included in a learning module.

  1. From the Course Menu select a Content Area (Learning Resources).
  2. Click on the Build Content button.
  3. Select Learning Module from the drop down list.

  1. Enter a description title for the learning module in the Name textbox.
  2. Optionally, select the font colour for the title from the Colour of Name drop down colour picker.
  3. Optionally, enter a description of the learning module contents in the Text textbox.

Insert an image (optional)

Optionally, insert an image to improve navigation (refer Textbox Editor: Insert an Image guide).

Tip: Place your cursor where you want to position the image, it is difficult to move images once they are inserted.

  • Do not change the options.

Note: Enforce Sequential Viewing forces students to view the content in order (though it there is no way of ensuring students engage with the content in the order it is presented).

Note: Opening the content in a new window may make navigation confusing for some students.

Standard Options

  1. Optionally, if you have not completed organising the content, select the No Permit Users to View this Content radio button.
  2. Optionally, if you need statistics on which students have viewed the content select Yes Track Number of Views radio button.
  3. Optionally, set Date and Time Restrictions: i.e. The course content could be organised into weekly learning modules that are displayed progressively over the semester at the relevant time.
    • If required, select the Display After checkbox and enter the date using the Date Selection Calendar and enter the time using the Time Selection Menu.
    • If required, select the Display Until checkbox and enter the date using the Date Selection Calendar and enter the time using the Time Selection Menu.

 

Table of Contents and Submit

  1. Select the Yes Show Table of Contents to Users radio button.
  2. Select the format of the Table of Content items from the Hierarchy Display drop down list.
  3. Click on the Submit button.
  4. The Learning Module will be displayed at the bottom of the page.

Moving the Learning Module

  1. Hover over the Learning Module.
  2. Click and drag the double arrow to the left of the learning module to move it to the correct position on the page.

Edit or Delete a Learning Module

  1. Hover over the Learning Module.
  2. Click on the arrow to the right of the title.
  3. Select Edit OR Delete from the drop down list.
