What are Lecture Recording Transcripts?
Lecture recording transcripts are an additional option available in Echo360 using the Automatic Speech Recogition functionality. In courses where the machine-generated transcripts are made available, students have the option to view the transcript while playing the lecture recording, search the text and download the transcript file. For more information, please refer to the Three ways that Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) will improve your Echo360 webpage by Echo360.
Why was the Pilot Initiated?
The pilot was initiated to put in place a process to allocate the 4000 hours per annum of transcripts included in our lecture recording system licence in 2019. In addition, Student Services and BEL Associate Dean (Academic) have requested that the pilot also determine if it would be beneficial to student learning to make lecture transcripts available in in all courses.
What are the Objectives of the Pilot?
The UQ Student Strategy 2016-2020 White Paper invites the university to explore digital technologies, with a specific focus on student-centred flexibility, with extended online and on-campus active learning.
