What is EesySoft?

The software allows the inclusion of custom-tailored messages in the form of hints and pop-ups in Learn.UQ (Blackboard). The software also includes a reporting module to measure the use of Learn.UQ eLearning tools. 

What will the trial be conducted?

The trial will be conducted during Weeks 8 - 10 (10 September - 7 October), Semester 2 2018. Note, the trial was originally planned to start 20 August but has been delayed.

What are the trial objectives?

  1. Test the effectiveness of using the EesySoft EesyReports module to measure the adoption and levels of use of eLearning tools in Learn.UQ by courses.
  2. Test the effectiveness of using EesySoft EesyReports module to measure the levels of use of eLearning tools in Learn.UQ by students.
  3. Test the effectiveness of using EesySoft EesyMessaging module to support staff use of eLearning tools and reduce eLearning Helpdesk queries.
  4. Test the effectiveness of using EesySoft EesyMessaging module to support student use of eLearning tools and reduce AskUS queries.

What use cases will be tested?

Test if the software can meet the trial objective some typical use cases suitable for Weeks 5 - 8 of Semester 2 will be used.

Report on usage of eLearning tools in Blackboard courses both overall and per faculty.

  • Number of instances of the tool in courses.
  • Number of courses with at least one instance of the tool.
  • Percentage of courses with at least one instance of the tool.

Limit to main assessment tools: Turnitin, Blackboard Assignments and Tests for the trial.

  • Replicate data available in The UQ eLearning Tool Usage report.

Other data

  • Check data accuracy against Apchee logs.

 

Student ECP access

Measure the level of ECP (Electronic Course Profile) usage by students; a link in all Blackboard course menus.
Check if students are informing themselves of learning and assessment requirements.
 

EesySoft Messaging

  • Remind students to check their ECPs.

EesyReports

  • Student access levels per week.
  • Students who have never accessed their course’s/courses’ ECPs.

Promotion of Grade Security

Improve staff awareness of Grade Security and the tools available in Blackboard to support best practice. i.e. Commenting in Grade Centre and the View Grade History tool.
