Expressions of interest (EOIs) for the UQ Awards for Excellence in Teaching and Learning are now open until Friday 22 April. These include:

SECaT action items

A reminder to course coordinators that all ECP data should be finalised by Friday 8 April. After this date, the Evaluations Team will use ECP data to create SECaT surveys. Any course with a listed Course Coordinator in the ECP will result in a SECaT course survey. Any teacher listed in a ‘Lecturer’ or ‘Associate Lecturer’ role in the ECP will result in a SECaT teaching survey.

Library resources for online exams 

During open book online exams, students may experience challenges accessing the same resources at the same time because publishers limit the number of users for particular sources. When planning exams, the Library recommends to either use Open Educational Resources or urge your students to take notes/download important chapters and articles.

Allow external Zoom accounts to join a restricted Zoom meeting

Zoom meetings can be configured to restrict access to UQ accounts only by specifying external accounts (such as those of guest lecturers) and allowing them to join meetings restricted to UQ staff and students.

Lecture recordings - Are students watching?

Analytics on student engagement with lecture recordings are available. Staff now have access to information on views of individual recordings and a breakdown of individual student engagement with all available recordings.

Online assignment submission and marking

Online assignment submission and marking tools facilitate efficient and reliable assignment submission for students and marking for teaching staff. Assignments are immediately available to teaching staff for marking, and once marked, are quickly available to students for reflection.

Eight new content types have been added to H5P functionality: The Chase, AR ScavengerCornell NotesWord Cloud, Emoticon CloudMulti PollStructure Strip and Complex Fill in the Blanks.

Course site design tips - assessment 

The Teaching and Learning Committee endorsed course design guidelines recommending that each individual assessment has its own folder in the Assessment area of the course site. The first item in the folder should be the submission link, followed by the relevant student instructions.
