9. Video Editing


In the Video Editor, most editing will occur at the beginning and end of the video. In addition, creating a Video Quiz occurs in this area.

Task to complete

Access Editor

  1. Login to Learn.UQ (Blackboard).
  2. In the Welcome page, click on the My Media link.
  3. Click on your video titled <your name> Introduction - Week 1 e.g. JimBob Introduction - Week 1.
  4. Select Edit from the ACTIONS drop-down menu.
  5. Click on the Launch Editor button.

Splitting and Deleting

Tip: When editing, watch your video again as there might be sounds that disrupt the video then delete them.

Note: If you are unable to see the PowerPoint slide, change the view of the video by clicking on the Toggle View icon.

  1. Click on the timeline.

Note: An orange border appears around the timeline when selected.

  1. On the timeline, click at the end of the first slide with Desktop Recording as the title.
  2. Click on the Split icon (scissors).
  3. Click on the timeline to select the first section of the video containing the slide with Desktop Recording as the title.
  4. Click on the Delete icon (bin)

Note: If splitting and deleting content in the middle of a video, leave it as it is otherwise moving the content you want into the deleted section will appear in the final copy.

Tip: If an error was made, click on the Undo icon. Conversely, click on the Redo icon to amend the initial Undo

Tip: If you would like to restart with the original video, click on the Reset icon.

Fade In/Out

  1. Click on the remaining clip in your timeline.
  2. Click on the Fade In/Out icon.
  3. Enter 3 in the In textbox.
  4. Enter 3 in the Out textbox.
  5. To save the changes, click outside the Fade In/Out panel.

Save/Save a Copy

Note: Once editing has been completed, you can either save the video or save a copy of the video. Clicking on Save means that any changes made during editing will be retained, meaning the original version will not be accessible any more. Clicking on Save a Copy not only saves a copy of the changes made during editing, but also the original version will be available should additional changes to the original need to be completed.

  1. Click on the Save a Copy button.
  2. Enter Updated: <your name> Introduction - Week 1 e.g. Updated: JimBob Introduction - Week 1.
  3. Click on the Create button.
  4. Click on the OK button.
