Create a link (Ultra)
Why would I use a link?
Links can be used to link to content outside of the Learn.UQ course site or to other content within the course that is important for students to view.
Create a link to a website
- Navigate to desired location where folder is to be created.
- Click on the Add new content (+) sign.
- Select Create from the drop-down list.
- Select Link from the Create Item menu.
- Select Visible to students from the Visibility drop-down list.
- Click on the Display name textbox, enter a [meaningful display name]. e.g. link to UQ Homepage.
- Click on the Link URL textbox, enter the URL.
- Check the Open in a new window checkbox.
- Click on the Description textbox and enter a meaningful description e.g. Click on the link to access the UQ homepage.
- Click on the Save button.
Create a link to course content
- Navigate to desired location where folder is to be created.
- Click on the Add new content (+) sign.
- Select Create from the drop-down list.
- Select Link from the Create Item menu.
- Select the Course Link tab.
- Click on the Keyword textbox, enter a [meaningful keyword for content in your course]. e.g. Course profile.
- Check the Categories checkboxes if required
- Click on the Search button.
- Select the Course link radio button next to the desired content.
- Click on the Display name textbox, enter a [meaningful display name]. e.g. Link to Course Profile.
- Click on the Description textbox and enter a meaningful description. e.g. Click on the link to access the Course Profile.
- Click on the Save button.
Note: You cannot use course links to connect to folders or learning modules.
Edit a link
Note: You cannot edit course links once they are created, they need to be deleted and remade.
- Click on the More options for [name of link] elipsis (3 dots) button and select Edit from the drop-down list. e.g. Click on the More options for Link to UQ homepage elipsis (3 dots) button and select Edit from the drop-down list.
- Make any changes then click on the Save button.
